Consumer app design for products people come back to

Our creative advisor has spent most of twelve years on consumer products: CRED, cult.fit, Toppr and Zero. The studio is new, so this page shows that work, says exactly whose it was, and tells you what we would do for yours.

Whose work this is: This page describes experience our creative advisor, Atul Khola, gained as an employee of other companies. Those companies are not non boring.gg clients. The studio is new and has no client work of its own to show yet.

The experience, stated plainly

The cult.fit figures are from Atul's own site and have not been published by the company.

What is different about consumer

What we do for a consumer startup

The Product Design Sprint ($25,000, 6 weeks) covers four to eight core flows with their states and a light design system. We pick the flows by frequency: onboarding, the repeated journey, and the moment of payoff. Open-scope product design runs $15,000–$45,000. For the page that has to get someone to download in the first place, the Launch Sprint ($12,000, 2 weeks).

What we do not claim

The studio has not shipped a consumer app for a client yet. The outcomes above happened inside companies with their own product, engineering and growth teams; design was one part of the result. We do not build the app: we design it and hand off to your engineers, and stay on through the build.

What the data says

Consumer companies in YC's 2026 batches are a minority; the cut is here. Across all 705 homepages we analysed, 61% lead with "AI". For a consumer product that is an opening: say what the person gets instead. The full report is State of YC startup design 2026, and the grader scores your homepage on the same signals.

The work behind this page

work · led by our creative advisor · not studio client work

CRED Cards management revamp

CRED · 2025 · Lead Product Designer: led the design pod as IC lead and manager

Cards is CRED's flagship product. Atul Khola led a small design pod that rebuilt card management from scratch around clearer control, faster actions and one view of a member's cards and dues.

cult.fit gym experience

cult.fit · 2019–2021 · Senior Product Designer

Atul Khola owned the gym experience inside cult.fit's app: he helped launch the vertical, laid the foundations of its design system and redesigned booking, check-in and workout journeys.

Building Zero

Zero · 2025 onwards · Head of Design & Experience

Atul Khola joined Zero as the third person in the company and spent about a year and a half designing the product from a blank file, building a 12-person Design & Experience team, and shaping the brand, the investor story and the launch.

Toppr learning products

Toppr · 2016–2018 · Product Designer (initial designer)

Atul Khola was the initial designer at Toppr, an Indian after-school learning app, working across online and offline experiences. He designed learning products used by more than 1.2 million students, including Doubts on Chat.

RoastRover concept

self-initiated · 2023 · Self-initiated concept: product, interaction, visual, motion

RoastRover is a concept for a coffee-maker companion app that Atul Khola made on his own in 2023, to take product thinking, interaction, visual language, motion and storytelling as far as he wanted with no client in the room.

Questions

Which consumer apps has non boring.gg designed?

None as a studio yet; it is new. Our creative advisor, Atul Khola, designed consumer products as an employee at CRED, cult.fit, Toppr and Zero. Those companies are not studio clients.

Are the cult.fit numbers verified?

They are self-reported. Atul states on his own site that completion rose 12%, retention 30% and monthly bookings 19% after the gym experience redesign. cult.fit has not published them and we have not checked them independently.

Do you design for iOS and Android?

Yes. We design mobile-first in Figma with platform conventions for both, and hand off tokens and named components your engineers can build from in native code, React Native or Flutter.

Do you build the app as well?

No. We design the product and the system, prototype it, and support your engineers through the build. We build marketing sites in Framer or Webflow, not mobile apps.

What does consumer app design cost?

The Product Design Sprint is $25,000 for 6 weeks. Open-scope product design runs $15,000–$45,000.

We only have an idea. Is it too early?

Not necessarily. A first version is the best time to get the core loop right. If you have no users yet, we design for the first session and the first return visit, and keep the system light so it can change.
