CRED Cards: rebuilding credit card management from scratch
Cards is CRED's flagship product. Atul Khola led a small design pod that rebuilt card management from scratch around clearer control, faster actions and one view of a member's cards and dues.
role: Lead Product Designer: led the design pod as IC lead and manager
Context
CRED is a Bengaluru fintech company built around credit card bill payments. It is well funded: in October 2021 it raised $251 million at a $4 billion valuation. Atul was Lead Product Designer there from January 2021 to May 2025 and worked across Home, central experiences, Shop and several zero-to-one explorations.
Cards is the part of the app the company started with. Years after the first version, the team came back to it knowing much more about how members actually manage several cards at once: due dates, utilisation, and the low-level worry that comes with all of it. The revamp was a rebuild, not a reskin.
What was done
- Led a small design pod for the Cards revamp, as both the lead individual contributor and the manager.
- Rebuilt the experience from scratch around three ideas: clearer control, faster actions, and a single view that makes several cards feel manageable.
- Designed for the real case of a member with multiple cards, dues and utilisation to track, instead of the one-card happy path.
Outcomes
- The redesigned Cards experience is documented in Atul's case study. source: cred-cards.pages.dev
- No conversion or retention numbers for the revamp are public, so none are quoted here. source: atulkhola.com

What this means for your project
Fintech products fail on clarity before they fail on looks: a balance someone cannot find, a due date they misread. If you are building a money product, the Cards work is the reference for how we approach it. Start from the anxious case, give people one honest view, then make the common action fast.
